Arm pain is any type of pain or discomfort in the arm, which usually refers to pain originating from the shoulder joint to the wrist joint. Arm pain is usually caused by an injury, irritation or inflammation of the skin, muscles, bones or joints in the arm. However, arm pain doesn't have to originate in your arm, but sometimes the pain actually arises in your neck and upper back. This is where chiropractic care and treatment helps alleviate the pain.
Your arms are made up of bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves and blood vessels, all of which are subject to injury, infection, or other conditions that can be painful. The treatment for arm pain depends on the underlying cause. Treatment for arm pain may include rest, elevation, an elastic wrap, a splint or sling, cold compresses, acetaminophen or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications for pain, and surgery.
Acute lower back pain is usually caused by a specific event that stretches the ligaments, tendons, and/or muscles of the lower back (lumbar pain). This soft tissue injury is most often caused by heavy lifting, accident, slip and fall, or some other traumatic event resulting in a strain and spasm of the muscles of the lower back.
